MDS ORTHODONTICS
Our award-winning MDS Orthodontics program offers one of the most comprehensive postgraduate orthodontic training experiences in the world. Students receive extensive clinical exposure, independently treating over 200 orthodontic cases encompassing routine, extraction, interdisciplinary, surgical, and aligner-based therapies. The program provides hands-on training in advanced orthodontic techniques, temporary anchorage devices (TADs), digital orthodontics, clear aligners, and orthognathic surgery planning. Residents gain expertise in diagnosis, treatment planning, biomechanics, and research, while working with cutting-edge technologies and a diverse patient population, ensuring they graduate as highly skilled clinicians and future leaders in orthodontics.
FDS - ORTHODONTICS
The FDS Orthodontics program at Saveetha Dental College is a unique 2-year full-time clinical training program designed for BDS practitioners seeking comprehensive training in contemporary orthodontics. Fellows gain hands-on experience in diagnosis, treatment planning, and fixed appliance therapy while independently treating and documenting complete orthodontic cases under expert supervision. Conducted within one of the world's largest orthodontic departments, the program provides access to a vast patient pool, advanced digital infrastructure, and mentorship from internationally recognized faculty, enabling graduates to confidently integrate orthodontic treatment into their clinical practice.
MFDS ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY
Our MFDS Orthognathic Surgery program provides advanced clinical training in the diagnosis, treatment planning, and multidisciplinary management of dentofacial deformities. Fellows gain extensive exposure to surgical orthodontics, 3D virtual surgical planning, cephalometric analysis, digital workflow integration, and orthognathic case management. Working alongside experienced orthodontists and maxillofacial surgeons, trainees participate in the complete treatment pathway—from presurgical orthodontic preparation and surgical planning to postsurgical finishing and retention. The program equips clinicians with the knowledge and skills required to confidently manage complex skeletal malocclusions and facial asymmetries using contemporary evidence-based protocols and cutting-edge digital technologies.
MFDS DIGITAL ORTHODONTICS
Our MFDS Digital Orthodontics program provides comprehensive training in the rapidly evolving field of digital orthodontics. Fellows gain hands-on experience in intraoral scanning, digital record acquisition, virtual treatment planning, and CAD-based orthodontic appliance design. The program offers extensive exposure to clear aligner workflows, including case setup, staging, attachment design, and treatment monitoring. Trainees are trained in advanced 3D printing technologies for the fabrication of orthodontic models, aligners, retainers, and customized appliances. The curriculum also includes digital design and metal 3D printing of orthodontic components, indirect bonding trays, and customized anchorage systems. By integrating artificial intelligence, digital workflows, and additive manufacturing technologies, the program equips clinicians with the skills required to lead the future of orthodontic practice and laboratory innovation.
MFDS SKELETAL ANCHORAGE
Our MFDS Skeletal Anchorage program offers comprehensive training in mini-implant–assisted orthodontics and advanced anchorage management. Fellows receive hands-on experience in the placement and application of TADs for intrusion, distalization, space closure, expansion, and correction of complex malocclusions. Training includes MARPE, bone-borne expansion, biomechanics, digital planning, and management of challenging interdisciplinary and surgical cases, preparing clinicians to deliver highly efficient and predictable orthodontic treatment.
